Cleaning & Prevention
Having a beautiful smile requires you to take care of your teeth. The process starts in your own home by brushing and flossing on a regular basis and is continued in the dental office for a more comprehensive treatment. Even with good brushing and flossing at home a professional teeth cleaning, at least twice a year, is recommended to remove any deposits and stains from those hard to reach areas. Having a healthy mouth has an immense impact on your overall health.
Plaque and hard deposits, tarter, will build up below the gum line and if it is not removed professionally it can cause gum inflammation. The consequence of the inflammation and bleeding gums will have a very negative effect on the teeth and the surrounding tissue. After the routine check- up, which includes x-rays, clinical examination, measuring of the pocket depths under the gums, and an oral cancer screening, the teeth are cleaned. Plaque and tarter that have built up above and below the gum line are removed. Then the teeth are polished.
